The PAVANE project, mockups, and exciting opportunities ahead.
Hey there, dear visitor! If you subscribe to my newsletter, you've probably already read about some of the things I'm writing about in this blog post. If, on the other hand, you haven't read my newsletter, I hope you'll find this post informative.
March is here with even more snow. The nights are cold if it's clear, and the sun is starting to feel warm against the skin on calm, sunny days. We are transitioning from real winter to spring, and this time of year is called spring-winter. It is a beautiful time, with life slowly returning to nature. Soon we will start to hear the whooper swans returning from their winter quarters.
Now for things that have happened since my last post. I have published my PAVANE project here with a mix of some years old and some brand new images. The images in this series are very personal, and I hope they can also mean something to others. I explore the relationship between a heating blanket and the surrounding nature. So far, I have worked with analogue films in black and white that have been partially colored digitally. I have recently decided to continue working with this theme. Stay tuned!
Another thing that has caught my interest lately is the different ways of digitally displaying artwork. I plan to expand my website with a webshop in the future, and when I do, I realize that it would be nice to show my work in natural environments. I have made an example to show how it might look when it is mounted, framed and on a wall. It's a mockup of a generic home environment.
Pavane V, mounted and framed. It is an example of how it might look when it is hanging on the wall in an imaginary bedroom.
Another exciting thing to share is that, as of now, I am a member of KKV Härnösand. KKV (Konstnärernas kollektivverkstad, The Artists' Collective Workshop) is a national organization with independent workshops in various cities around Sweden. KKV in Härnösand is well-equipped with opportunities to work in an analogue darkroom, make large digital prints and even polymer photogravure with traditional etching techniques in the art printing workshop. Its members run it, and after being accepted as one of the artists, you get access to a whole new world of opportunities. Another nice thing after becoming a member is access to all other KKVs in Sweden.
Finally, I will address the exciting opportunities that lie ahead. I have booked a course in polymer photogravure printing after the upcoming Easter holidays. I am very excited about the chance to learn this technique and will of course get back to you with my impressions and hopefully some examples of what has come out of it.
Until next time,
Andreas
