Sometimes I have stopped at some of these colored markers in the forest. What do they show? Sometimes it's which trees are to be saved during an upcoming felling or thinning. Or perhaps they mark trees that are to be cut down. Perhaps they demarcate an area to be protected or show the route of a planned forest road. Sometimes you can see old remnants of plastic markings still in place.

I have an ambivalent relationship to these colorful markings. Will the forest still be there on the next visit? A strong feeling of being HERE in the landscape appears.

In my pictures I use the same type of markers that are common in forestry. I try to recreate the feeling of traveling through the forest landscape and the encounter with these markings.
